Alfa CD at the CPC North Show, Manchester, 3-4 November 2023
At Thula we are excited to announce our participation at the Clinical Pharmacy Congress North 2023, showcasing our Alfa CD Module.
The event will be held on 3-4 November at Manchester Central Convention Complex, UK, bringing together healthcare professionals, industry experts, and innovators to explore the latest developments in the healthcare sector.
Thula will be showcasing their groundbreaking Alfa CD module, a significant technological advancement revolutionising the management of controlled drugs. Initially launched in Iceland in 2016, it has since been serving hospitals and elderly homes in managing all ordering, extraction, balance checking, and stock oversight workflows of controlled substances.
In the UK, Thula has had the pleasure of working with Prof. Inderjit Singh, Chief Pharmacist, at the University Hospital in Birmingham (UHB). In close collaboration with Prof. Singh and his team of pharmacy professionals, the Alfa CD module has been adapted in line with a set of UK specific requirements.
Thula has partnered with E-Sign, a well-established vendor of e-signing services within the NHS, to integrate their advanced electronic signature technology into the Alfa CD Module. This enables a closed-loop and fully paperless process for controlled drug management, whilst maintaining complete compliance to regulations, medicine safety, and best practices.
The Congress comes at an exciting time as the adaptations have been fully implemented. The user engagement testing program and pilot has now been completed with data collected. It is now entering the controlled first phase service roll out with further data to be collected.
The CD module provides:
- Immediate and full UK regulatory compliance with electronic signing
- Effective discrepancy detection and resolution
- Complete elimination of paper-based registers
- Improved workflows support increased Care Hours per Patient Day (CHPPD)
- A control tower overview of all aspects of controlled drugs management
Adele McAllister, Thula’s Country Manager UK, shares:
„We are very proud and thrilled to be working with our UK partners, creating a truly digital and revolutionising management tool for controlled drugs in a post-pandemic world. The benefits to the clinical and pharmacy teams are huge, driving greater legislative and regulatory confidence, and safer, more efficient patient care.“
